Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 1/9/2025-1/9/2027. Social workers completing this course receive 3 total credits, including 2 Clinical and 1 Social and Cultural Competence continuing education credits.)

for the complete 3 hours (participants will need to sign in and out) and the post-test and

Description: This course is an interactive comprehensive introduction to adapting psychotherapy for Autistic clients which focuses on four main areas: The foundations of radically neurodivergent-arming psychotherapy adapted specifically for Autistic folks, What Autism is (the lived experience, early diagnosis, late-diagnosis), clinical considerations when adapting therapeutic modalities for Autistic folks, and clinical case studies to cover how these accommodations/adaptations can look like en vivo covering common issues that come up in therapy such as rejection sensitive dysphoria, trauma, and social stress.

Learning Objectives: Participants will walk away with a solid understanding of the basic components of neurodivergent-arming therapy and the unique needs of Autistic clients in the therapeutic environment. Participants will be able to understand and identify the basic principles of neurodivergent-arming therapy and how to dierentiate between neurodivergent-arming approaches and non-arming approaches. Participants will understand how to adapt communication styles, the environment, and therapeutic modalities to Autistic clients based on their specific needs. Participants will be able to identify common challenges for Autistic clients
in accessing and deriving benefits from psychotherapy.
This training was developed for: Licensed and Pre-Licensed psychotherapists such as Clinical Social Workers, Professional Counselors, Educational Psychologists, and Marriage and Family Therapists.

Instructor Bio: Danielle Aubin, LCSW/LICSW (she/they), is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in private practice and a proud member of the AuDHD community. Danielle provides therapy exclusively to Autistic identified folks using a blend of adapted psychotherapies such as psychodynamic, existential, ACT, DBT, and person-centered. With extensive clinical and lived experience, Danielle provides unique insights into adapting therapeutic approaches tailored to the specific needs of Autistic individuals.
