Your First Online Perinatal Therapy Session At Presence Perinatal Wellness

Your first Online Perinatal therapy session will generally focus on what brought you to therapy and we will focus on getting to know each other. This is a great time to ask me questions. Some questions I may ask you are:

  • What brought you to therapy?

  • What are your symptoms?

  • What your previous experience in therapy has been

  • What do you expect from the therapy process?

  • How many sessions do you think you would need to achieve your goals?

  • How will we know we have been successful in achieving your goals for therapy?

Length of Online Perinatal Therapy

The length of online perinatal therapy can last a couple of sessions or a couple of years depending on your personal goals and when you meet them. If you are using insurance, your insurance provider may have a limit on how many sessions they will authorize. Financially, you may have a limit on how many sessions you can pay for. We will discuss this early on in therapy so that we can make a plan that works for you.

My personal therapeutic approach is considered eclectic which means it comes from multiple theoretical orientations and techniques. It is a flexible and multifaceted approach to therapy. I generally pull from the following approaches due to my training and clinical background:

What will happen in a typical online Perinatal therapy session?

Due to the individualized nature of therapy, no two sessions are ever completely alike. As Heraclitus, a Greek philosopher, so aptly stated "change is the only constant in life." That being said, there are important elements that I attend to as your therapist. These include:

  • All sessions will be provided via HIPAA-compliant video (I will send you the link via email)

  • I will show up for you and you will have my full attention during our sessions together.

  • I will work with you in partnership to create a space that feels safe. You are in control of what we talk about.

  • I will show up as a whole person. I am imperfect, I have two young kids, I rarely wear make-up or professional attire, and I speak my mind with honesty and humility. I don't have all the answers. I am a fellow traveler on this wild adventure called life.

  • We will pay attention to how you feel in your body and incorporate mindfulness into our sessions if you find it useful

  • Therapy can be challenging. In order for change to happen, growth can be uncomfortable. We will try to find the sweet spot between challenge and comfort. We will keep an open dialogue about your level of comfort while in therapy.
