I have to admit, I think this podcast episode about Autistic Therapy basically lays out my insights as an Autistic Therapist at this point in time. This is my work, this is what I can offer, and this is what I have learned so far. I am forever grateful that #1: I didn't give up on being a therapist when it felt impossible (and still does from time to time) and that #2: I learned I was Autistic right when I went into private practice and this SAVED me because masking as a therapist was going to burn me out and learning I was Autistic allowed me to pivot and serve my neurokin in a way that feels sustainable.
Here's the description: Danielle Aubin is an autistic therapist who works with autistic clients. And also shares about Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) and how it's strangely compatible with capitalism because of its orientation toward achievement.
Other big topic is community building, and how it can be healing even when it's uncomfortable (in the right way).
Relational healing is necessary for relational trauma, whether in the therapeutic relationship, or in a group setting!
